Dr Roisin O’ Shea appointed to two International Boards


Arc Mediation is pleased to announce that Senior Partner Dr Roisin O’ Shea was appointed to the board of the ICSP (International Council of Shared Parenting) based in Bonn on September 13th 2016. Fellow board members include Prof. Edward Kruk University of British Columbia, Dr Malin Bergstrom the Elvis Project Sweden, and Dr. Chantal Clot-Grangeat Clinical psychologist and researcher. The international organisation promotes and distributes evidenced based research that advances the best interests of children whose parents are living apart. Dr O’ Shea is looking forward to working with the board to develop evidence based recommendations that ensure better outcomes for children and their parents. Dr O’ Shea is also looking forward to travelling to Boston in 2017 for the ‘International Conference on Shared Parenting 2017’ May 29th to 31st, which is being jointly organised by the US-based National Parents Organization (NPO).

In the month of September Dr O’ Shea was also appointed to the International Committee of the AFCC (Association of Family & Conciliation Courts), chaired by Chief Justice Diana Bryant from Australia. This committee will engage in systematic outreach outside of North America, specifically in Ireland and the United Kingdom in 2016-2017. Fellow committee members include Professor Emeritis Janet Walker England, Judge Valerie Thean, Presiding Judicial Commissioner, Family Justice Courts Singapore and Patti Cross Office of the Chief Justice Toronto ON Canada.

In commenting on her recent appointments Dr O’ Shea said,

” I am deeply honoured to be invited to participate in these two excellent international forums, alongside such distinguished colleagues, and I hope that the research that Dr Sinead Conneely and I continue to do at Waterford Institute of Technology further informs the reform recommendations for the implementation of co-parenting, that prioritises the best interests of the child”.
